Helen believes in sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices. She admits to anyone who will listen, that great wines are made in the vineyard and that it is her role to nurture the wines to bottle.
Helen was born in England but moved with her family to Australia in 1988. She enrolled in a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (oenology) with the University of Adelaide on her eighteenth birthday. In 2000 she graduated with her degree and first class honours. She has also recently completed a Master of Business Administration (Sustainable Business).
Helen's career so far has seen her work with many iconic brands and wine regions. She has spent time working with Lindemans winery in Mildura, Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Seppelts Great Western, Penfolds, Taylors Wines and most recently Thorn-Clarke Wines. In late 2015 she joined the Mountadam Vineyards team as Chief Winemaker; responsible for all aspects of winemaking from the vineyard to bottle.
Helen is an active wine judge and has completed both the Len Evans Tutorial and Advanced Sensory Assessment Course. Helen has been awarded several young winemaker of the year awards:
