Established in 1972 , Mountadam High Eden Estate is one of Australia’s oldest cool climate Chardonnay vineyards. Situated on a unique rocky outcrop the estate commands an easterly aspect over Eden Valley. All fruit used to craft this wine is grown on the estate.
A cool, dry continental climate with soils of low fertility (over 500 million years old) is a forbidding site to grow grapes. It does however, provide the opportunity to produce special wines of great concentration and elegance.
Patriarch Shiraz honours Mountadam’s founder and one of Australia’s great visionaries, David Wynn. This wine is off the oldest Shiraz plantings on our Eastern vineyard in High Eden. Perched at an altitude of 500m on a unique east facing ledge overlooking the Eden Valley.
