Harvested from Mountadam’s eastern vineyards, this traditionally made Pinot Gris displays delicate apple, pear and guava aromas and classic textural characters.
On release this Eden Valley Pinot Gris is pale in colour. The wine has bright aromas of pear, fig and citrus. The wine has a underlying spicy character. The palate is dominated by citrus, and pear characters. The wine has good palate texture and weight. Its has a dry clean finish.
Superlative gris in the context of Australia, playing off the estate’s highly skilled hand when it comes to eking out textural complexity and interplay of freshness, flavour and chew. The usual stream of apple and pear sparks curiosity more because of the phenolic grip and savoury aura, finishing with a hint of marzipan. More Alsatian than domestic. All for the better.
