Crafted from Riesling vines planted in 1968, on Mountadam’s western vineyard, this Riesling expresses lifted floral aromas. It has clean, crisp citrus flavours and delicate minerality.
The Riesling on the Western Mountadam High Eden vineyard was planted in 1968 and 1974. These particular vineyards sourced Leo Buring Leonay over the last 40 years and was reunited with the eastern side of Mountadam in 2015 when the Brown family made the purchase. The vineyards sit at 550m above sea level with a sheltered southerly aspect.
The 2025 Mountadam Riesling was picked in the cool, early hours of the 4th and 6th of March. It is a blend of the Estates 1968 and 1974 plantings which stood up remarkably well in what was a particularly warm growing season. The fruit was pressed within an hour of being harvested and only the finest of the free run juice was reserved to craft this wine. This ensures the natural acidity and purest flavours are retained in the final wine. The juice was cold settled and once clarified was racked and fermented cold to retain the core of fruit.
The 2025 Mountadam Riesling is a classic High Eden Riesling. It displays an intense purity of fruit with kaffir lime leaf, grapefruit and red apples combined with a floral lift. The wine has a pithy texture and a spine of acidity that leads to a salivating minerality on the finish.
